Preparing for The Art of Us Exhibition
This guide is designed for artists submitting to The Art of Us exhibition hosted by Tempe Artists Guild. It provides helpful resources on three key topics: How to photograph and resize your images, what jurors look for, and how to price your artwork.
■ How to Photograph & Resize Your Artwork Images
• Use natural, even lighting to minimize glare and shadows.
• Photograph artwork straight-on to avoid distortion.
• Crop carefully so only the artwork shows (no background distractions).
• Resize images to meet entry requirements (usually 72–150 dpi for web uploads).
• Save as JPEG or PNG for clarity and easy upload.
How to Resize Your Photos for Free:
• CLICK HERE to open the free Image Resizer website.
• Upload the photo
• Set the maximum width or height to 1920 pixels.
• Set the maximum target file size to 4 MB
• Save your resized image as Jpg, jpeg, or Png before exporting and downloading.
■ What Do Jurors Look For?
• Strong composition, balance, and use of color.
• Craftsmanship and attention to detail.
• Originality and authenticity of voice.
• Clarity of idea or concept behind the piece.
• Professional presentation of work and images.
