Summary
Becky Spradling was a featured artist with three paintings in Celebration of Women's Rights: Feminine and Fierce at ASU's Gammage Theatre.
TAG member Rebecca (Becky) Spradling was a featured artist at an important recent exhibit: Celebration of Women’s Rights: Feminine & Fierce. Eleven artists were invited to contribute one or more pieces of feminist-inspired art. The exhibit was on display in the lobby area of Arizona State University’s historic Gammage Theatre. The event was in support of Suffs, a play that focused on the struggle of women and their male supporters to achieve voting and other basic human rights for women.
When I visited the October 30 opening reception, I was very impressed by the high quality of the work and the way it lifted up women’s rights and freedoms in all their variety. Becky had three large, intriguing paintings, which are captured in the photo included here. TAG members may remember two of these paintings from our own recent exhibit at the Tempe History Museum. This opportunity, however, allowed me to hear more from Becky directly about what inspired these paintings, and their connections with her own life.
TAG is lucky to have such a versatile and talented member!
