Summary
TAG artists at the Petersen House for the 2022 Christmas open-house.

The historic Petersen House is celebrating the holiday season in style this year (2022), with beautifully decorated trees spaced throughout the historic home, a choir of angelic singers, treats, and… the Tempe Artists Guild. Members prepared coasters composed of cork-based tiles topped with copies of their original art. The artful coasters then got several coats of varnish to make them waterproof and ready for protecting the dining room table from the damage of drinks hot and cold. Since these coasters illustrate original art from members, another option is to display one’s coasters like the works of art that they are.
Of course, preparing beautiful artworks is only half the task of connecting to happy buyers. Members of the Tempe Artists Guild stepped up to this job too. By dividing the work into two shifts for each of the four days, TAG artists effectively shared the burden of making sales. For two weekends (Dec. 3 -4 and Dec. 10 – 11),TAG artists shared their coasters and other art by members with visitors to the Petersen House.TAG artists shared their coasters and other art by members with visitors to the Petersen House.

Our hard work in preparing and presenting our art, via useful coasters, really paid off. The sale was effective, not just in sharing our art, but in growing community awareness of the presence of a welcoming art guild open to everyone.
