Marie Provine

artist statement:

Marie Provine has always made art, and more so since she ended her academic career at Arizona State University in 2012. She works in oil, pastel, watercolor on various themes often related to nature. Her work appears in local galleries, and she takes commissions. Describing herself as an impressionistic realist, Provine strives to render personality and attitude in her animal subjects and to keep light and life in all her work. Her art was featured in the Spring 2019 edition of Emeritus Voices: The Art of Doris Marie Provine and she enjoys juried membership status within the Arizona Art Alliance. In 2021, one of my watercolors was selected by the Arizona Citizens for the Arts to be awarded to a recipient at the Arizona Governor’s Arts Awards March
