I revel in the flesh. Layers of it caressed and ground into the canvas. Building it up out of earths and metals and pushing it around with the brush, the hand, the knife. I oil it. I give it blood and warmth to release the suppleness of forms. The flesh becoming bodies in a mythological narrative.
Education:
BFA with Honors from Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California
MFA from Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, Arizona.

Title of presentation: The Drawing Process in Charcoal

Description:

Rory MacLean will be demonstrating his approach to drawing the human figure in charcoal. He will speak about reducing and introducing complexity to make the drawing process engaging and the end result a work that reveals something beyond the formulas and rigors of institutional drawing.
