Bio:

Liz Walker, who creates award-winning acrylic and marbled paintings in her home studio in the Portland, Oregon area has been painting and teaching throughout the Pacific Northwest for nearly 20 years. Abstracted figures that convey a sense of “story” are her favorite subject matter, and she produces hundreds of paintings each year.

Liz Walker received her BA in Art from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. Her work has been exhibited widely in regional and national shows, and in 2020, she received First Place in the 47th Annual Rocky Mountain Watermedia Show. Watercolor Artist Magazine featured an article about Liz’s acrylic marbling technique in their Aug. 2016 issue and her paintings have been published in the North Light publications AcrylicWorks4 and AcrylicWorks6. She is a Signature member of the National Watercolor Society, Northwest Watercolor Society, Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, and the International Society of Experimental Artists.

Description of presentation:    

Using a digital presentation/lecture format, Liz will reveal some of the practices and habits that catapulted her work to greater recognition among jurors.   Join Liz as she takes you on a visual adventure—charting her creative journey through use of images, ideas, and sage advice she’s gleaned from other artists. She will emphasize the importance of embracing one’s artistic influences—past and present—and show how doing so can improve your own artistic growth.
