ARTIST
Doralee Ewing
about:
After being diagnosed with breast cancer 17 years ago, I promised myself that I would always paint. I love to garden and create functional art through quilting, sewing, and needlework. I have been living in Tempe, Arizona since 2010, having moved from Northern California. Living in the desert and creating a community in Tempe that I love has been a wonderful experience and continues to be so. Tai Chi is currently my way of expressing myself through movement. I have a need to be a part of creating something, whether it be performing dance, playing music, or painting. I use all sorts of mediums and experiment with new art products to create new effects.
artist statement:
Art has always been a part of my life. I have been dancing since the age of three, performing professionally and with a small ballet company in California in my twenties. My art intersects with my passion for caring for the Earth through painting landscapes, plants and animals, and my engagement with a local environmental community group addressing climate change.
With a fast-paced career in the healthcare field, using all sorts of art helps me focus on what is beautiful in this world and relieves stress. Creating is a way that I can express my gratitude and appreciation for life.
mediums: Watercolors, Acrylic, Ceramics
