Summary

A great time with the Creative Arts Club at Friendship Village's memory care unit

The Creative Arts Club recently had an especially wonderful visit with residents of the memory care unit at Friendship Village.  Each month, members of Tempe Artists Guild visit with interested residents to do an art project together.  With the strong and helpful support of Nancy Sherman and her staff, the Club has grown into a group of friends who enjoy making art together.  Like other TAG-based members of the Club, I look forward to our monthly get togethers.

The October meeting featured a project designed by one of our members, Sylvia Mousseux.  The group started with loose watercolors in various colors on absorbent watercolor paper cut to the size of note cards or small paintings.  When they were dry enough to work with, we penned in designs, often flowers.  The results, as you can see from the featured images, were just beautiful.  Sylvia is often the source of our best ideas, but this month she outdid herself, with samples and lots of hands on help for all of us.

Enjoying art-making with memory-care residents is a reminder of the joys of focusing on the moment.  Residents of the memory care unit seem at ease with life, and ready for adventure.  We non-residents enjoy their good humor and interest in art.  I recommend this connection to anyone.
