ARTIST

Barbara Cronise

artist statement:

I have become a pastel artist since retiring, having been a fine arts major at Michigan State University, where I also pursued a master’s degree in art history. The pastel medium has become my passion and I have gravitated toward landscape painting, working mainly from photos I’ve taken.

I grew up in Birmingham, Michigan, but lived in San Francisco and then Capitola, California for most of my life. At the Santa Cruz Art League I began working in pastels, taking classes for a few years until moving to Mesa in 2015 to be with my family. In Arizona I have enjoyed taking drawing and pastel classes at the Pyle Adult Center in Tempe and exhibiting at the Tempe Library. I’ve also taken pastel classes and exhibited at the Phoenix Center for the Arts as well as exhibiting and selling work at the Holland Center for the Arts in Scottsdale as a member of the Arizona Art Alliance.

mediums: Pastels, Colored Pencil
