Terrific Painting Wins 1st Place at GVAL

TAG member Ira DellaMonica captured a warrior’s tragic sense of the betrayal of his people in this prize-winning painting.  The details give the painting a feeling of sculpted stone, a  three-dimensional sense of depth on a two-dimensional panel.  No wonder this painting won a major prize from the Gilbert Visual Art League — it is a remarkable achievement.  The artist states that her painting was “Originally inspired while practicing some Native American grounding rituals and listening to flute music.  I came home and researched Native Americans and learned about Black Elk,  a Lakota visionary, shaman and scared warrior.”  This beautiful painting is acrylic on a panel.
